श्रीगुरु चरन सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि ।

बरनउँ रघुबर बिमल जसु, जो दायकु फल चारि ॥

Shri Guru charan saroj raj, nij manu mukur sudhari

Barnao Raghuvar bimal jasu, jo daayak phal chari

Meaning: With the dust of the lotus feet of my Guru, I cleanse the mirror of my mind.

I narrate the immaculate glory of Lord Rama, which bestows the four fruits (Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha).

बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौं पवन कुमार ।

बल बुधि विद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस बिकार ॥

Buddhi heen tanu jaanike, sumirao Pawan Kumar

Bal buddhi vidya dehu mohi, harahu kalesh bikar

Meaning: Knowing myself to be ignorant, I remember the son of the Wind God, Hanuman.

Please grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove my sorrows and impurities.

जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुण सागर ।

जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर ॥

Jai Hanuman gyaan gun saagar

Jai Kapis tihu lok ujagar

Meaning: Victory to Hanuman, the ocean of wisdom and virtue!

Victory to the Lord of the monkeys, who is renowned throughout the three worlds.

राम दूत अतुलित बलधामा ।

अंजनि पुत्र पवनसुत नामा ॥

Ram doot atulit baldhama

Anjani putra Pawan sut nama

Meaning: You are the messenger of Lord Rama and the abode of immense strength.

You are the son of Anjani and also known as the son of the Wind God.

महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी ।

कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी ॥

Mahabeer bikram Bajrangi

Kumati nivar sumati ke sangi

Meaning: O Hanuman! You are the mighty and courageous one, with a body as strong as a thunderbolt.

You dispel evil thoughts and accompany those who are virtuous.

कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा ।

कानन कुंडल कुंचित केसा ॥

Kanchan baran biraaj subesa

Kanan kundal kunchit kesa

Meaning: Your body shines like gold, and you are adorned in beautiful attire.

You wear earrings, and your hair is curly.

हात बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजै ।

कांधे मूँज जनेऊ साजै ॥

Haat bajra au dhwaja birajai

Kandhe moonj janeu saajai

Meaning: You hold a mace and a flag in your hands;

you wear a sacred thread made of munj grass on your shoulder.

शंकर सुवन केसरी नंदन ।

तेज प्रताप महा जग वंदन ॥

Shankar suvan Kesari Nandan

Tej pratap maha jag vandan

Meaning: You are the incarnation of Lord Shiva and the son of Kesari.

Your glory and might are praised by the entire world.

विद्यावान गुणी अति चातुर ।

राम काज करिबे को आतुर ॥

Vidyavaan guni ati chatur

Ram kaaj karibe ko aatur

Meaning: You are full of knowledge, virtue, and wisdom;

and you are always eager to perform the tasks of Lord Rama.

प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया ।

राम लखन सीता मन बसिया ॥

Prabhu charitra sunibe ko rasiya

Ram Lakhan Sita man basiya

Meaning: You delight in listening to the stories of Lord Rama.

Rama, Lakshman, and Sita dwell in your heart.

सूक्ष्म रूप धरि सियहिं दिखावा ।

बिकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा ॥

Sookshma roop dhari Siyahi dikhawa

Bikat roop dhari Lanka jarawa

Meaning: You appeared before Sita in a subtle, small form, and later;

you assumed a fierce form to set Lanka on fire.

भीम रूप धरि असुर सँहारे ।

रामचंद्र के काज सँवारे ॥

Bheem roop dhari asur sanhare

Ramchandra ke kaaj sanvare

Meaning: You assumed a terrifying form to destroy the demons;

and successfully carried out the work of Lord Rama.

लाय संजीवन लखन जियाए ।

श्री रघुबीर हरषि उर लाए ॥

Laaye Sanjeevan Lakhan jiyaye

Shri Raghuveer harashi ur laaye

Meaning: You brought the Sanjeevani herb and revived Lakshman.

Lord Rama was overjoyed and embraced you with affection.

रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई ।

तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई ॥

Raghupati keenhi bahut badaayi

Tum mam priya Bharat hi sam bhai

Meaning: Lord Rama praised you greatly;

and said, “You are as dear to me as my brother Bharata.”

सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं ।

अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं ॥

Sahas badan tumharo jas gaave

As kahi Shripati kanth lagave

Meaning: The thousand-headed Sheshnag sings your glories.

Lord Rama then embraced you, expressing his love.

सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा ।

नारद सारद सहित अहीसा ॥

Sanakadik Brahmaadi Munisa

Narad Sarad sahit Aheesa

Meaning: The sages like Sanaka, gods like Brahma:

and saints like Narada and Saraswati, along with Sheshnag, sing your praises.

जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहाँ ते ।

कवि कोविद कहि सके कहाँ ते ॥

Yam Kuber Digpaal jahan te

Kavi Kovid kahi sake kahan te

Meaning: Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of the directions sing your glory.

Even poets and scholars cannot describe your greatness adequately.

तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा ।

राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा ॥

Tum upkaar Sugreevahin keenha

Ram milaye raj pad deenha

Meaning: You did a great favor to Sugriva by introducing him to Lord Rama,

who then made him the king of Kishkindha.

तुम्हरो मंत्र विभीषन माना ।

लंकेश्वर भए सब जग जाना ॥

Tumharo mantra Vibhishan maana

Lankeshwar bhaye sab jag jaana

Meaning: Vibhishana accepted your advice, and as a result, he became the king of Lanka, known throughout the world.

युग सहस्त्र जोजन पर भानु ।

लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू ॥

Pronunciation: Yug sahastra yojan par bhaanu

Leelio taahi madhur phal jaanu

Meaning: You flew thousands of yojanas (a great distance) to reach the sun, thinking it to be a sweet fruit and tried to swallow it.

प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माही ।

जलधि लाँघि गए अचरज नाहीं ॥

Pronunciation: Prabhu mudrika meli mukh maahi

Jaladhi langhi gaye acharaj naahi

Meaning: You placed Lord Rama’s ring in your mouth and leaped across the ocean effortlessly; it was no surprise considering your powers.

दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते ।

सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते ॥

Pronunciation: Durgam kaaj jagat ke jete

Sugam anugrah tumhare tete

Meaning: All the difficult tasks in the world become easy by your grace.

राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे ।

होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे ॥

Pronunciation: Ram duaare tum rakhware

Hot na aagya binu paisare

Meaning: You are the guardian at the door of Lord Rama, and no one can enter without your permission.

सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना ।

तुम रक्षक काहू को डरना ॥

Sab sukh lahe tumhari sarna

Tum rakshak kaahu ko darna

Meaning: All happiness is attained by seeking refuge in you. When you are the protector, there is no need to fear anything.

आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै ।

तीनों लोक हांक तें कांपै ॥

Pronunciation: Aapan tej samhaaro aapai

Teenon lok haank te kaampai

Meaning: Only you can control your own great energy. All three worlds tremble at your mighty roar.

भूत पिशाच निकट नहिं आवै ।

महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै ॥

Bhoot pisaach nikat nahin aave

Mahabeer jab naam sunave

Meaning: Ghosts and evil spirits do not come near when they hear the name of the mighty Hanuman.

नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा ।

जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा ॥

Naasay rog harai sab peera

Japat nirantar Hanumat beera

Meaning: All diseases and suffering are eradicated by constant repetition of Hanuman’s name.

संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै ।

मन क्रम वचन ध्यान जो लावै ॥

Pronunciation: Sankat te Hanuman chhudave

Man kram vachan dhyaan jo lave

Meaning: Hanuman frees one from all difficulties when they meditate on him with mind, word, and action.

सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा ।

तिन के काज सकल तुम साजा ॥

Sab par Ram tapasvi raja

Tin ke kaaj sakal tum saaja

Meaning: Lord Rama, the supreme ascetic and ruler of all, entrusted you to carry out his work, and you fulfilled all his tasks.

और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै ।

सोइ अमित जीवन फल पावै ॥

Aur manorath jo koi lave

Soi amit jeevan phal paave

Meaning: Whoever comes to you with desires in their heart, achieves boundless and limitless fruits in this life.

चारों युग परताप तुम्हारा ।

है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा ॥

Chaaro yug pratap tumhara

Hai prasiddh jagat ujiyaara

Meaning: Your glory prevails in all the four ages, and your fame radiates throughout the world.

साधु संत के तुम रखवारे ।

असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे ॥

Pronunciation: Sadhu sant ke tum rakhware

Asur nikandan Ram dulare

Meaning: You are the protector of sages and saints, and you are the beloved of Lord Rama, the destroyer of demons.

अष्टसिद्धि नव निधि के दाता ।

अस बर दीन जानकी माता ॥

Ashta-siddhi nav nidhi ke daata

As bar deen Janaki Mata

Meaning: You are the bestower of the eight spiritual powers (siddhis) and nine treasures (nidhis), a blessing granted to you by Mother Sita.

राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा ।

सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा ॥

Ram rasayan tumhare pasa

Sadaa raho Raghupati ke daasa

Meaning: You possess the essence of devotion to Lord Rama, and you remain forever his faithful servant.

तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै ।

जनम जनम के दुख बिसरावै ॥

Tumhare bhajan Ram ko paave

Janam janam ke dukh bisraave

Meaning: By singing your praises, one can reach Lord Rama, and all the sorrows of many lifetimes are forgotten.

अन्त काल रघुबर पुर जाई ।

जहाँ जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई ॥

Ant kaal Raghubar pur jaai

Jahan janm Hari-bhakt kahai

Meaning: At the end of life, one who worships you will go to the abode of Lord Rama, and wherever they are reborn, they will be called a devotee of Lord Hari.

और देवता चित्त न धरई ।

हनुमत सेइ सर्ब सुख करई ॥

Aur devta chitt na dharai

Hanumat sei sarv sukh karai

Meaning: One who meditates solely on Hanuman does not need to think of other gods. All happiness is obtained through devotion to Hanuman.

संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा ।

जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा ॥

Sankat katai mitai sab peera

Jo sumirai Hanumat Balbeera

Meaning: All difficulties and pains are removed for those who remember the mighty Hanuman with devotion.

जय जय जय हनुमान गोसाई ।

कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाई ॥

Jai jai jai Hanuman Gosai

Kripa karahu Gurudev ki naai

Meaning: Victory, victory, victory to you, O Hanuman! Please bestow your grace upon me, just like a Guru would bless his disciple.

जो शत बार पाठ कर कोई ।

छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई ॥

Jo shat baar paath kar koi

Chutahi bandi maha sukh hoi

Meaning: Whoever recites this Hanuman Chalisa a hundred times will be freed from all bondage and will attain immense happiness.

जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा ।

होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा ॥

Jo yah padhe Hanuman Chalisa

Hoy siddhi saakhi Gaurisa

Meaning: Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa will achieve spiritual success, and Lord Shiva himself is the witness to this promise.

तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा ।

कीजै नाथ हृदय मह डेरा ॥

Tulsidas sada Hari chera

Keejai Nath hriday mah dera

Meaning: Tulsidas, ever the servant of Lord Hari (Vishnu/Rama), prays to you, O Hanuman, to dwell in his heart forever.

पवन तनय संकट हरन, मंगल मूरति रूप ।

राम लखन सीता सहित, हृदय बसहु सुर भूप ॥

Pawan tanay sankat haran, mangal moorti roop

Ram Lakhan Sita sahit, hriday basahu Sur bhoop

Meaning: O son of the Wind God, remover of sorrows, embodiment of auspiciousness, please reside in my heart along with Lord Rama, Lakshman, and Sita.
