नमामीशमीशान निर्वाणरूपं
Namāmīśamīśāna nirvāṇarūpaṁ
I bow to Lord Shiva, whose form is liberation itself

विभुं व्यापकं ब्रह्म वेदस्वरूपम्
Vibhuṁ vyāpakaṁ brahma vedasvarūpam
The all-pervading, omnipresent embodiment of Brahman and the Vedas

निजं निर्गुणं निर्विकल्पं निरीहं
Nijaṁ nirguṇaṁ nirvikalpaṁ nirīhaṁ
Who is self-existent, beyond qualities, beyond duality, and desireless

चिदाकाशमाकाशवासं भजेऽहम्
Cidākāśamākāśavāsaṁ bhaje'ham
I worship Him who dwells in the sky of consciousness

निराकारमोंकारमूलं तुरीयं
Nirākāramoṁkāramūlaṁ turīyaṁ
The formless source of Om, the transcendent fourth state

गिरा ज्ञान गोतीतमीशं गिरीशम्
Girā jñāna gotītamīśaṁ girīśam
Beyond speech and knowledge, the Lord of mountains

करालं महाकाल कालं कृपालं
Karālaṁ mahākāla kālaṁ kṛpālaṁ
The terrifying destroyer of time, yet compassionate

गुणागारसंसारपारं नतोऽहम्
Guṇāgārasaṁsārapāraṁ nato'ham
I bow to Him who is beyond the world of qualities

तुषाराद्रि संकाशगौरं गभीरं
Tuṣārādri saṁkāśagauraṁ gabhīraṁ
Radiant white like a snow-capped mountain, and profound

मनोभूतकोटिप्रभाश्रीशरीरम्
Manobhūtakoṭiprabhāśrīśarīram
Whose body shines with the brilliance of millions of Cupids

स्फुरन्मौलिकल्लोलिनीचारुगङ्गा
Sphuranmaulikallolini cārugaṅgā
With the beautiful Ganga flowing from His matted locks

लसद्भालबालेन्दुकण्ठे भुजङ्गा
Lasadbhālabālenduka ṇṭhe bhujaṅgā
Adorned with a crescent moon on His forehead and a serpent around His neck

चलत्कुण्डलं भ्रूसुनेत्रं विशालं
Calatkuṇḍalaṁ bhrūsunetraṁ viśālaṁ
With swaying earrings and large, beautiful eyes

प्रसन्नाननं नीलकण्ठं दयालम्
Prasannānanaṁ nīlakaṇṭhaṁ dayālam
With a serene face, blue throat, and compassionate nature

मृगाधीशचर्माम्बरं मुण्डमालं
Mṛgādhīśacarmāmbaraṁ muṇḍamālaṁ
Wearing a tiger skin and a garland of skulls

प्रियं शङ्करं सर्वनाथं भजामि
Priyaṁ śaṅkaraṁ sarvanāthaṁ bhajāmi
I worship the beloved Shankara, the Lord of all

प्रचण्डं प्रकृष्टं प्रगल्भं परेशं
Pracaṇḍaṁ prakṛṣṭaṁ pragalbhaṁ pareśaṁ
The fierce, excellent, bold, supreme Lord

अखण्डं अजं भानुकोटिप्रकाशम्
Akhaṇḍaṁ ajaṁ bhānukoṭiprakāśam
The indivisible, unborn, radiant as millions of suns

त्रयःशूल निर्मूलनं शूलपाणिं
Trayaḥśūla nirmūlanaṁ śūlapāṇiṁ
Who uproots the three afflictions, holding a trident

भजेऽहं भवानीपतिं भावगम्यम्
Bhaje'haṁ bhavānīpatiṁ bhāvagamyam
I worship the consort of Bhavani, attainable through devotion

कलातीत कल्याण कल्पान्तकारी
Kalātīta kalyāṇa kalpāntakārī
Beyond time, auspicious, the destroyer at the end of ages

सदा सज्जनानन्ददाता पुरारी
Sadā sajjanānandadātā purārī
The eternal bestower of joy to the virtuous, destroyer of the three cities

चिदानन्दसन्दोह मोहापहारी
Cidānandasandoha mohāpahārī
The remover of delusion through the abundance of consciousness-bliss

प्रसीदप्रसीदप्रभो मन्मथारी
Prasīdaprasīdaprabho manmathārī
Be pleased, O Lord, enemy of Manmatha

न यावद्उमानाथ पादारविन्दं
Na yāvadumānātha pādāravindaṁ
As long as one does not worship the lotus feet of Umanatha (Lord of Uma)

भजन्तीह लोके परे वा नराणाम्
Bhajantīha loke pare vā narāṇām
In this world or the next, for human beings

न तावत्सुखं शान्ति सन्तापनाशं
Na tāvatsukhaṁ śānti santāpanāśaṁ
There is no happiness, peace, or end to suffering

प्रसीद प्रभो सर्वभूताधिवासम्
Prasīda prabho sarvabhūtādhivāsam
Be pleased, O Lord, who dwells in all beings

न जानामि योगं जपं नैव पूजां
Na jānāmi yogaṁ japaṁ naiva pūjāṁ
I know not yoga, nor chanting, nor worship

नतोऽहं सदा सर्वदा शम्भु तुभ्यम्
Nato'haṁ sadā sarvadā śambhu tubhyam
I always bow to you, O Shambhu, at all times

जरा जन्म दुःखौघ तातप्यमानं
Jarā janma duḥkhaugha tātapyamānaṁ
Afflicted by the sorrows of old age and rebirth

प्रभो पाहि आपन्नमामीश शम्भो
Prabho pāhi āpannamāmīśa śambho
O Lord, protect me who has taken refuge in you, O Isha Shambhu

रुद्राष्टकमिदं प्रोक्तं विप्रेण हरतोषये
Rudrāṣṭakamidam proktaṁ vipreṇa haratoṣaye
This Rudrashtakam was uttered by the sage to please Hara (Shiva)

ये पठन्ति नरा भक्त्या तेषां शम्भुः प्रसीदति
Ye paṭhanti narā bhaktyā teṣāṁ śambhuḥ prasīdati
Shambhu is pleased with those who recite this with devotion

Prayer

कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारम् भुजगेन्द्रहारम्।

Karpur Gauram Karunavataram Sansara Saram Bhujagendra Haram

सदावसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे भवं भवानीसहितं नमामि॥

Sada Vasantam Hridayaravinde Bhavam Bhavani Sahitam Namami
